Uses
Differin Gel (Adapalene) is used as a treatment for acne vulgaris. Its active ingredient is a type of retinoid (related to vitamin A) that helps to unclog the pores and effectively treat blemishes on the skin, while at the same time preventing pores from becoming clogged. This helps to stop new spots and pimples from forming. Another benefit of treatment with this gel is that it can help with the natural exfoliation of the outer skin. In some cases, patients have used this gel to treat keratosis pilaris and other skin conditions.

Dosage and Administration
Differin Gel (Adapalene) is applied topically to the affected area. Follow your doctor's instructions. In most cases, patients are told to apply the gel before going to bed. Prior to application, wash the face using a soap-free cleanser and gently dry the skin. A pea sized amount of the gel should then by applied to the cheeks, chin and forehead, after which it should be rubbed in. Care should be taken to ensure that the gel does not get in the mouth, eyes or nose. Patients should not apply excessive amounts of the gel, as it will not cure the acne faster, however, excess application may cause skin irritation. If no improvement is noticed after 12 weeks of using the gel, your should consult your doctor.
