Dosage and Administration
Finast (Finasteride) comes in 5mg strength tablets, which are administered orally. A visit to the doctor is required before treatment can commence. Patients treating an enlarged prostate gland may be prescribed other medicines to treat their condition. Generally, the dosage for BPH prescribed by doctors is 5mg per day, and the prescribing doctor will evaluate the effectiveness of treatment after 6 to 12 months. Androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness) is normally treated with 1mg per day.

Side effects
Taking Finast (Finasteride) tablets may cause some side effects, including:

  • Breast enlargement
  • Impotence and erection problems
  • Disorders related to ejaculation
  • Pain that occurs in the testicles
  • Reduced sexual desire after stopping treatment

Most side effects usually disappear if treatment is stopped. Tell your doctor about any reactions that occur during treatment. You should seek medical care immediately if you notice lumps in the breast, a nipple discharge, painful breasts or any other serious symptoms.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
