Description

Main Use Active Ingredient Marketed Name
Seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis Levocetirizine Levorid

Uses
Levorid (Levocetirizine) is indicated for the treatment of allergic inflammation of the airways in the nose caused by allergens such as pollen or dust. If caused by pollen, this condition is commonly referred to as hay fever. This allergic reaction is also known as rhinitis, and can occur on a seasonal basis (especially during pollen season) or throughout the year (perennial allergic rhinitis). Uncomplicated chronic idiopathic urticaria is also treated with this drug. The active ingredient in this medicine is a third generation antihistamine, which is also non-sedating. It inhibits the histamine receptors, thereby stopping allergy chemicals from being released to the area affected. This in turn leads to effective relief from rhinorrhoea, itchiness and nasal congestion in patients with allergic rhinitis.

Dosage and Administration
The amount of medicine contained in each Levorid (Levocetirizine) tablet is 5mg. Deciding the correct dosage will be the responsibility of your doctor. Adult patients taking this medicine to treat chronic idiopathic urticaria, seasonal allergic rhinitis or perennial allergic rhinitis are usually instructed by their doctor to take 5mg (one tablet) once per day. Patients may be directed to take the medicine in the evening. Swallow the tablet whole, and ensure that you only take the prescribed amount of medicine.
