Uses
Pred Forte Eye Drops (Prednisolone Acetate) are used on a short term basis to treat eye inflammation which is treatable with corticosteroid medicine. It works by affecting the inflammatory response. Symptoms treated include pain, redness and swelling. The active ingredient in this medicine works by blocking and controlling the symptoms of the acute inflammatory response triggered by the release of substances used by the immune system.

It can help to stop capillary dilation and proliferation, as well as collagen deposition and can also help prevent scars from being formed. A reduction in redness and swelling also occurs, due to it lowering the volume of inflammatory substances released. Eye inflammation triggered by allergies, surgical procedures conducted on the eye, chemicals or other causes is often treated with this ophthalmic solution. However, it must not be used for viral diseases affecting the eye, as it will not work for these conditions and could even worsen the symptoms.

Dosage and Administration
Pred Forte Eye Drops (Prednisolone Acetate) are applied topically. Your doctor will tell you how and when to apply it. Adult patients are sometimes told to apply 1 to 2 drops to the eye 2 to 4 times each day (the precise amount will depend on your symptoms and will be decided by the doctor). In some cases, adjustments may be made during the first 24 to 48 hours if the doctor deems it necessary. Usually, medical reassessment is needed if the symptoms do not get better after 2 days. After an ocular examination, which may include a slit lamp biomicroscopy, the doctor will also decide if any continued treatment is required.
