Chest pain and Raynaud's syndrome Nifedipine Adalat OROS

Uses
Adalat OROS (Nifedipine) is a type of drug known as a calcium channel blocker, and it is used to prevent chest pain from angina, to treat a blood circulation disorder called Raynaud's syndrome, and may even be used for reducing high blood pressure. This drug's mode of action involves slowing down the movement of calcium through the muscle cells, which relaxes and widens the arteries.

As a result of this, the heart's oxygen supply is improved, which helps to prevent chest pain (angina) caused by a lack of oxygen. Circulation in the hands is also improved, which prevents spasms in the blood vessels in the patient's hands (Raynaud's syndrome). Finally, widening the arteries helps to reduce high blood pressure.

Dosage and Administration
Prescriptions for Adalat OROS (Nifedipine) will state the exact dosage that the patient needs to take. Your doctor will take various factors into consideration, such as the condition being treated and your response to treatment. Adults treating high blood pressure may be told to take 30mg to 60mg per day, and the dosage may be increased by the prescribing doctor every 1 to 2 weeks. Other conditions may require different amounts of medication to be taken. In all cases, patients must see their doctor prior to commencing treatment, and should only take the prescribed amount.
