Uses
Apo-Oxybutynin (Oxybutynin Chloride) is widely prescribed to patients affected by frequent urination, feeling the urgent need to urinate and urinary incontinence when these symptoms occur as a result of an overactive bladder. Patients who experience these symptoms as a result of spina bifida or other medical conditions affecting the muscles of the bladder may also be prescribed this medication.

The active ingredient in these tablets belongs to a class of drugs known as anticholinergics, and it helps to treat the urination problems listed above by causing bladder muscles to relax, which in turn prevents contractions of the bladder and helps it to hold urine.

Dosage and Administration
Apo-Oxybutynin (Oxybutynin Chloride) tablets must be taken in strict accordance with the dosage instructions given by the doctor providing medical treatment. Adults undergoing medical treatment for urinary incontinence are sometimes prescribed the same dosage to patients treating urinary frequency. However, because the exact amount of medicine can vary, based on the patient's individual circumstances, it is important that when undergoing treatment with this drug, patients only take the amount of medicine that their doctor tells them to take.

Side effects
Apo-Oxybutynin (Oxybutynin Chloride) can cause patients to experience side effects. Not all reactions are serious. Possible examples include:

  • Anxiety
  • Blurred eyesight
  • Dryness of the eyes
  • Problems related to sleep
  • Changes in your sense of taste

If you experience any side effects during treatment, you should notify your doctor and discuss your condition. You will need medical care straight away if you notice hot or dry skin, severe thirst, a painful sensation when urinating or any other serious symptoms.

Precautions
You must not drive if your vision becomes blurred after taking this drug.

Consumption of drinks that contain alcohol have been known to make some of the side effects of this drug worse.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Apo-Oxybutynin (Oxybutynin Chloride) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
