The information on this product's packaging is Turkish language only.

Uses
Crestor (Rosuvastatin) is used to lower cholesterol. In addition to this, it may be prescribed to help reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other serious health problems in patients considered to be at risk of this (such as those affected by heart disease, diabetes and other conditions). This medicine is in a group of drugs called statins. It works by blocking the action of an enzyme in the liver (called HMG-CoA reductase). As this enzyme is responsible for producing cholesterol, blocking its action causes a reduction in cholesterol.

Dosage and Administration
Patients undergoing treatment with Crestor (Rosuvastatin) are often directed to follow a special diet plan, and may also be told to lose weight (if they are obese) and to exercise regularly. Adults who are treating atherosclerosis may be prescribed an initial dose ranging from 5mg to 10mg per day. This may be adjusted, and a maintenance dose of 5mg to 40mg may be prescribed. The dosage required for high cholesterol levels, prevention of heart disease and other conditions may vary, and in all cases, the prescribing doctor will determine the correct dosage for each patient.

Side effects
Treatment with Crestor (Rosuvastatin) tablets may cause side effects, such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Depression
  • Indigestion
  • Muscular pain
  • Pain affecting the joints

Notify your doctor if you are worried about any side effects. In some cases, serious reactions are possible, however, this is considered to be rare. See your doctor immediately if you notice fever, discoloured urine, pain affecting the chest, abdominal pain, appetite loss or any other serious side effects.

Precautions
Although it is rare, there is a slight possibility that taking this drug can cause side effects that affect the muscles, and which may progress to kidney problems. Also, there is a very small risk of lung disease associated with this drug. Ask your doctor for more details about this before starting treatment.

If you are taking 40mg of this medication, your doctor will need to monitor your kidney function.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Crestor (Rosuvastatin) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you suffer from any allergies.
