Tavin-EM tablets contain two different antiretroviral drugs - tenofovir and emtricitabine - and used to treat HIV infection, to prevent HIV infection, or slow down the spread of infection.
Tavin-EM tablets are a combination antiretroviral used to treat Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection in adults over 18. Tavin-EM tablets should be combined with other HIV medications that have a different mechanism of action to the ingredients in Tavin-EM (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate/Emtricitabine). Tavin-EM can be used as a new course of treatments in patients who have already received treatment with other medications for HIV, or as a first-line HIV therapy for new patients.
HIV infections attacking specific immune cells called CD4+ cells. This compromises the immune system. CD4+ cells fight off infections. When their numbers are low infections that may not normally be damaging can cause life-threatening situations. AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) can also result from too many CD4+ cells being destroyed.
Tavin-EM tablets inhibit the action of the viral-specific enzyme reverse transcriptase (RT), which is needed for the HIV virus to be able to replicate. This slows the replication and spread of the virus.
Tavin-EM is a tablet from containing 200mg of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and 300mg of emtricitabine. It comes packaged as a bottle of 30 tablets.
