Duovir-E Kit

Uses
Duovir-E is a kit of 3 tablets that can help treat HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) in adults. One tablet contains efavirenz (600mg), while the other two contain a fixed-dose combination of lamivudine (300mg) and zidovudine (150mg).

Dosage and Administration
Duovir-E contains three tablets:

• One yellow tablet (Efavirenz 600mg)
• Two white tablets (Lamivudine 150mg + Zidovudine 300mg)

The white tablets (Lamivudine + Zidovudine) should be taken in the morning AND at night.

The yellow tablet (Efavirenz) should be taken at night along with the white tablet.

Side effects
Duovir-E can cause some unwanted side effects. The most common of these include:

• headache
• tiredness
• nausea
• diarrhea
• nasal signs and symptoms
• cough

Less frequent side effects associated with Duovir-E are:

• fever
• vomitting
• anorexia / decreased appetite
• abdominal pain and/or cramping
• dyspepsia
• neuropathy
• insomnia / sleep disorders
• dizziness
• depression
• skin rash
• musculoskeletal pain
• myalgia
• arthralgia

Precautions
Duovir-E can result in damage to the fetus if it is taken during the first trimester of pregnancy. Your doctor will be able to outline the potential benefits of treatment and the potential risks. Discuss with them whether you should be taking Duovir-E.

Tell you doctor if you are taking any prescription drugs or over-the-counter medicines. Several of these will have a negative interaction with the active ingredients in Duovir-E, or Duovir-E may prevent them from working properly.
