|Narcolepsy or shift work disorder
Armod (Armodafinil) is indicated for use in patients affected by excessive sleepiness or narcolepsy, so as to improve wakefulness and help the patient remain alert. Other sleep disorders it is used for include OSA (obstructive sleep apnoea) and SWD (shift work disorder). Patients affected by narcolepsy are unable to regulate proper wake and sleep cycles, resulting in sudden sleep episodes throughout the day. This can seriously affect work and normal daily routines. Shift work disorder occurs when the work hours differ from the body's natural sleep clock. Affected patients often struggle to remain alert while at work.
Treatment with this medicine helps patients to overcome these symptoms by acting on the brain, and affecting dopamine activity, as well as other substances which are responsible for the sleep cycles. This helps to improve alertness and wakefulness. Many believe that it has nootropic properties, and that it can help improve concentration and the memory function. It has also been the subject of much medical research, which examined other potential uses, such as fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, ADHD, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and other disorders not listed here.
Dosage and Administration
Armod (Armodafinil) is available as tablets, each of which contains 50mg of the main ingredient. Visit your doctor so that the correct dosage can be determined. The dosage can vary for each patient. In some cases, adults treating narcolepsy or OSA have been told by the doctor in charge of medical treatment to administer 150mg or 250mg per day (the exact dosage will vary based on individual circumstances). Some patients may require a lower than normal dosage. Therefore, it is essential that all instructions provided by the doctor are strictly followed.
Use of Armod (Armodafinil) for medical treatment may result in side effects, such as:
- Dryness in the mouth
- Difficulty sleeping properly
It is necessary to make your doctor aware of all side effects that are experienced during treatment. You will need to consult your doctor straight away if you notice aggressive behaviour, hallucinations, abnormal bleeding, severe blisters on the skin, muscular weakness or any other serious side effects that are not mentioned here.
Patients should be aware of the fact that due to the potential risk of dependence posed by this medicine, your doctor will impose a limit on the period of time for which you should be treated. Under no circumstances should it be used for longer than your doctor tells you to.
Treatment with this medication for sleep disorders is not meant to be a replacement for proper and sufficient sleep. Ensure that you comply with all advice given by your doctor with regard to normal sleep patterns.
Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
Always use Armod (Armodafinil) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
