Butop Cream (Butenafine HCL) is used for athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm. It acts as a fungicidal agent and blocks the action of a fungal enzyme called squalene epoxidase. This in turn prevents ergosterol from being synthesized, causing serious structural damage to the membranes of the fungal cells and allowing for the symptoms of the infection to clear up.

Uses
Butop Cream (Butenafine HCL) is used for athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm. It acts as a fungicidal agent and blocks the action of a fungal enzyme called squalene epoxidase. This in turn prevents ergosterol from being synthesized, causing serious structural damage to the membranes of the fungal cells and allowing for the symptoms of the infection to clear up. The active ingredient in this antimycotic cream is said to be derived from benzylamine. In medical trials, it has demonstrated efficacy against a wide range of fungi.

These include Epidermophyton floccosum, trichophyton rubrum, trichophyton tonsurans, candida albicans, Microsporum canis as well as various others. Another condition for which it has been tested and used is interdigital tinea pedis (athlete's foot affecting the area of skin between the toes). Other types of dermatophyte infections not listed here may also be treated with it. Proper use of this cream will help to relive the itchiness that often accompanies the skin infection, as well as alleviating skin cracking and scaling.

Dosage and Administration
Butop Cream (Butenafine HCL) comes in a 15g tube, and is provided as a 1 per cent strength formula. If you have a skin infection, a visit to the doctor will ensure that it is properly diagnosed and that the appropriate treatment is recommended. Precise instructions related to the proper use of this cream will also be given to you by your doctor after diagnosis. Adults are usually told to use the cream once per day on the affected area of skin.

Do not cover it with any dressings unless your doctor tells you to do so. In some cases, the use of a gauze may be recommended in order to prevent contact with clothing. Continued use will be needed for the entire period recommended by the doctor in order for the infection to fully heal. In certain cases, tinea pityrias, tinea cruris and tinea corporis have been treated with a 2 week regimen, and patients using interdigital tinea pedis have been told to use it for 4 weeks.
