Clobetasol Ointment

Uses
Clobetasol Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate) is used to treat severe eczema, psoriasis, chronic itching and other related skin conditions when treatment with other more mild topical corticosteroids have not produced effective results. This ointment works by acting on the skin cells to reduce the amount of inflammatory substances released, thereby providing relief from swelling, itching and irritation that occurs in skin conditions.

Dosage and Administration
Clobetasol Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate) is applied onto the skin. Ask your doctor for instructions on how to properly apply it. Usually, application twice per day is considered sufficient for treating eczema, psoriasis or other symptoms. You must not apply more than your doctor recommends, and it is also important that it is not used for longer than the recommended treatment period. If no improvement in your symptoms is noticed after 2 weeks, you are advised to inform your doctor.

Side effects

Precautions
Clobetasol Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate) is not to be used on sore or infected skin.

You are advised not to cover the area of skin that has been treated with a bandage unless your doctor has instructed you to do so. This is because covering the skin may increase the amount of cream absorbed by the skin, which could lead to side effects.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Clobetasol Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
