Diflucan One

Uses
Diflucan One (Fluconazole) belongs to a class of medicines called antifungals. A single dose of this medicine is used to treat vaginal thrush (vaginitis). In some cases, men affected by thrush occurring on the penis (also called candidal balanitis) have used this medicine. Women affected by vaginal thrush suffer from vaginal inflammation and discharge, whereas men experience pain affecting the penis and foreskin as well as a discharge from the penis.

These symptoms occur as a result of a certain type of fungi, known as Candida albicans, however, other fungi belonging to the Candida species. This medicine aims to treat the symptoms of thrush, and it achieves this by destroying the fungi, thereby allowing the infection to clear.

Dosage and Administration
Diflucan One (Fluconazole) comes as a single capsule, which contains 150mg of the active ingredient. Female patients who are being treated for vaginal candidiasis are usually instructed by their doctor to take 150mg (one capsule) as a single dose to treat their condition. The capsule must be swallowed whole, and should not be crushed or broken. Generally, doctors state that the medicine may be taken with or without food, however, it should be swallowed alongside a glass of water.

Side effects
Treating thrush with Diflucan One (Fluconazole) may cause side effects, such as:

• Headache
• Spinning sensation
• Pain in the stomach
• A strange taste in the mouth
• Other changes affecting taste sensation

If any side effects are experienced during treatment, a doctor should be informed. Although less common, there is still a possibility of severe reactions occurring in patients treated with this medicine. You will need to immediately seek medical attention if you notice severe tiredness, appetite reduction, discoloured urine, seizures, skin blisters or any other serious side effects which have not been listed here.

Precautions
Patients should note that in some cases, there is a possibility of being affected by seizures or dizziness. If the patient is driving or operating machinery, this must be taken into account.

If no improvement in your symptoms is noticed after one week of taking this medicine, you should consult your doctor.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Diflucan One (Fluconazole) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
