Uses
Diflucan One (Fluconazole) belongs to a class of medicines called antifungals. A single dose of this medicine is used to treat vaginal thrush (vaginitis). In some cases, men affected by thrush occurring on the penis (also called candidal balanitis) have used this medicine. Women affected by vaginal thrush suffer from vaginal inflammation and discharge, whereas men experience pain affecting the penis and foreskin as well as a discharge from the penis.
These symptoms occur as a result of a certain type of fungi, known as Candida albicans, however, other fungi belonging to the Candida species. This medicine aims to treat the symptoms of thrush, and it achieves this by destroying the fungi, thereby allowing the infection to clear.
Dosage and Administration
Diflucan One (Fluconazole) comes as a single capsule, which contains 150mg of the active ingredient. Female patients who are being treated for vaginal candidiasis are usually instructed by their doctor to take 150mg (one capsule) as a single dose to treat their condition. The capsule must be swallowed whole, and should not be crushed or broken. Generally, doctors state that the medicine may be taken with or without food, however, it should be swallowed alongside a glass of water.
