Uses
Erlocip-100 (Erlotinib) is indicated for the treatment of pancreatic cancer, non-small cell lung cancer and other forms of the disease. It is said to work by affecting the chemical process required for the growth of the cancerous cells. The main ingredient in this drug belongs to a class of medications referred to as tyrosine kinase inhibitors. In the cancer cells, there is a receptor known as the epidermal growth factor receptor.

This receptor is responsible for the activation of tyrosine kinase (an enzyme needed for the cancer cells to proliferate). However, this medicine acts on the tyrosine kinase enzyme and blocks its activation, thereby stopping the growth of cancerous cells. Doctors may recommend use of this medicine in combination with other medicines when pancreatic cancer is being treated.

Dosage and Administration
Erlocip-100 (Erlotinib) comes in 100mg strength tablet form. Adults treating non-small cell lung cancer are often directed to take 150mg, once per day. Patients affected by pancreatic cancer are generally instructed to administer 100mg per day. In all cases, your doctor will decide on the length of time for which treatment is required to continue, usually until the disease progresses or else if toxicity that is deemed excessive occurs. The tablets are taken either 1 hour prior to eating or else 2 hours after a meal has been consumed.
