Uses
Genox (Tamoxifen) is used to treat breast cancer. It is a type of drug known as an anti-oestrogen. It works by inhibiting the oestrogen receptors, which in turn can help to prevent the growth of tumours which require oestrogen in order to grow. Doctors may prescribe this drug to treat breast cancer which has already spread, to treat early breast cancer, to reduce the risk of a more severe type of breast cancer or to lessen the risk of breast cancer in women considered to be at risk of it.

Dosage and Administration
Genox (Tamoxifen) tablets are taken by mouth. A medical consultation is required before commencing treatment, so that the correct dosage can be prescribed. In some cases, treatment may be required for a considerably long period of time. Patients taking it to prevent breast cancer from occurring may even be told to take it for 5 years. However, your doctor will tell you how long you need to continue taking it for.

Side effects
Patients taking Genox (Tamoxifen) should be aware that there is a possibility of side effects occurring, some of which are mentioned here:

  • An increase in the tumour pain
  • Hot flashes
  • Hair loss
  • Cramps in the stomach
