Uses
Omnacortil 40 (Prednisolone) is a type of corticosteroid hormone which has a wide range of medical uses. These include disorders of the immune system, cancer, problems related to breathing, severe allergic reactions, arthritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, polymyositis, dermatomyosistis, and various other conditions, in particular those related to inflammation.

This medicine is a synthetic derivative of a hormone which is naturally produced by the body's adrenal glands. Doctors prescribe this medicine as it has anti-inflammatory properties. It can reduce inflammation by reducing the amount of chemicals important to the immune system which can trigger inflammation or symptoms of an allergy, making it effective at treating the conditions listed above.

Dosage and Administration
Omnacortil 40 (Prednisolone) tablets are used for many different medical conditions, and because of this, the dosage regimen usually varies greatly for each patient. When used as an anti-inflammatory treatment, patients are sometimes directed by their doctor to take a dose that consists of 5mg to 60mg (in divided doses), 1 to 4 times per day. However, in all cases, a full medical consultation is needed before treatment can start.

Side effects
Taking Omnacortil 40 (Prednisolone) can sometimes result in side effects, such as:

• Acne
• Body fat changes
• Perspiring more than usual
• Pain that affects the stomach
• Dryness, discolouration or bruising of the skin

Precautions
You will be told to avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages while taking this drug.

This medicine should not be used by patients who have a fungal infection.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Omnacortil 40 (Prednisolone) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
