Uses
Ranitidine Relief (Ranitidine Hydrochloride) works by inhibiting histamine receptors in the gastric cells of the stomach. This reduces the secretion of gastric acid and helps to decrease the pain associated with ulcers, while also allowing the ulcer the opportunity to heal. Indications for this medicine include duodenal ulcers, other types of ulcers, oesophageal reflux disease, chronic dyspepsia (indigestion) that is aggravated by meals, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the prevention of ulcers associated with certain medications and other conditions where reduction of stomach acid secretion is needed.
Dosage and Administration
Ranitidine Relief (Ranitidine Hydrochloride) must be administered in accordance with the instructions given by your doctor. Patients treating a gastric ulcer may be told by their doctor to take 150mg per day, with the tablet administered at night. Treatment may last for 1 year. If it is given for the acute treatment of gastric or duodenal ulceration, the doctor may direct the patient to take 150mg (1 tablet) twice per day, in the morning and just before going to bed.
Healing of symptoms normally takes 4 weeks, however some patients may need an extra 2 to 4 weeks of treatment. The maintenance dosage for duodenal ulcers is normally 150mg per day, at night time. Other conditions may be treated according to a different dosage schedule and in all cases, patients must strictly adhere to the directions given by their doctor.
