Precautions
Use during pregnancy and lactation

There are no data on the use of pirfenidone in pregnant women.

In animals, pirfenidone and / or its metabolites are transferred through the placenta with possible accumulation of pirfenidone and / or its metabolites in the amniotic fluid. With the introduction of high doses (≥1000 mg / kg / day) in rats, gestation is prolonged and the viability of the fetus is reduced.

Pirfenidone use during pregnancy is contraindicated.

It is not known whether pyrfenidone or its metabolites in breast milk is excreted. Available pharmacokinetic data in animals showed excretion of pirfenidone and / or its breast milk metabolites and the possibility of accumulation of pirfenidone and / or metabolites in milk. Risk to infants cannot be excluded.

The decision to discontinue breastfeeding or the appointment of pirfenidone should be made taking into account the benefits of breastfeeding for the child and the benefits of therapy for the mother.

Fertility. In the course of preclinical studies of adverse effects on fertility was not observed.
