Chest pain (angina) Diltiazem Hydrochloride Diltiazem Hydrochloride

Uses
Dilzem (Diltiazem Hydrochloride) tablets contain an active ingredient which belongs to the calcium channel blocker group of drugs. These tablets are used as part of a regular treatment schedule to prevent angina attacks, and may also be prescribed for high blood pressure. Angina chest pain occurs as a result of an inadequate supply of oxygen to the heart. This drug solves these problems by slowing down the heart, thereby reducing the heart's demand for oxygen and helping to prevent angina attacks.

Dosage and Administration
All patients taking Dilzem (Diltiazem Hydrochloride) must strictly adhere to the dosage instructions given to them by their doctor at the time of prescription. Never take more than your doctor tells you to take. Some adults treating hypertension may be told to take 30mg to 60mg 3 to 4 times per day as an initial dose. If the prescribing doctor decides to adjust this dosage regimen, the patient may be prescribed a maintenance dosage ranging from 180mg to 360mg per day (taken in divided doses). Treatment of angina may require similar doses. In all cases, you need to see your doctor before taking this drug so that the correct amount can be prescribed.
