Uses
Nicorette (Nicotine Polacrilex) is a gum which used to help patients to successfully quit smoking. It is a form of 'nicotine-replacement-therapy' and each gum contains a low level of nicotine. It helps to curb your body's addiction by providing you with the lowest dose possible, reducing any withdrawal systems you would otherwise suffer from when abruptly quitting.

With your body satisfied physically, you are able to psychologically adjust your habits so that you won't feel the need to smoke. Some patients even report that chewing the gum acts partly as a replacement for smoking as a physical activity, further aiding their attempts to quit.

Dosage and Administration
You can use Nicorette (Nicotine Polacrilex) as needed and as often as one piece every 1-2 hours, chewing until you notice a slight tingling sensation in your mouth. Once you experience tingling you should stop chewing and place the chewed gum to one side inside your mouth (i.e between your gum and flesh). Begin chewing again once the tingling fades. Continue for up to 30 minutes.

Do not chew more than one piece at a time and remember to leave gaps of at least 1-2 hours between each new piece of gum. Never under any circumstance take more than 24 pieces of gum per day.

Gradually as your body adjusts to the lower amount of nicotine, usually after 2 to 3 months of use, you can begin reducing the amount of gum you chew while still being unaffected by withdrawal symptoms.

Side Effects
Normally Nicorette (Nicotine Polacrilex) gum is safe and well tolerated. Some patients may, however, experience dizziness, headaches, mouth ulcers, achy jaw muscles. Inform your doctor promptly if you experience any adverse effects at all and they are persist, worse, worry you, or are bothersome.
