Uses
Zigat Eye Drops (Gatifloxacin) are prescribed as a treatment for infections of the eye occurring as a result of bacteria. Conditions treated include pinkeye (bacterial conjunctivitis), a type of bacterial infection affecting the eyeballs and eyelids. The main ingredient in these eye drops is a type of fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and it treats the infection by destroying the bacteria.

Dosage and Administration
Visit your doctor before using Zigat Eye Drops (Gatifloxacin), so that your condition can be properly diagnosed. If this medicine is suitable for treating your infection, your doctor will provide you with specific dosage instructions which you need to adhere to. In some cases, adults treating conjunctivitis have been instructed to instil 1 drop into the eye or eyes requiring treatment every 2 hours while they are awake (up to 8 applications per day) for the first 2 days of treatment, after which they have been instructed to apply 1 drop up to 4 times per day for days 3 to 7 of treatment.

Side effects
Applying Zigat Eye Drops (Gatifloxacin) to the eyes as a treatment for eye infections may sometimes cause side effects, such as:

  • Itchiness or irritation
  • A strange taste in the mouth
  • A puffy appearance of the eyelids

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
